FAQ

Can you fill the cracks in my wall?
Cracks in internal walls are usually minor shifts in old buildings or settlement in new ones. Jobsmiths can fill these and re-wallpaper or paint to match the rest of the space or completely make over the whole room. If the wall is riddled with minor cracks or dents, we would suggest skimming it allover for a neat finish before repainting or wallpapering. Large cracks which have suddenly appeared indicate subsidence in the structure and should be attended to as soon as possible.

Should I ask Jobsmiths to paint the skirting boards and picture rails with gloss paint or satin paint?
It depends on how busy your household is. Gloss paint tends to be more hardwearing, but the choice of finish depends upon the overall look you want.

Do I need to wallpaper the ceiling?
We won't wallpaper it without telling you! If the plaster finish is satisfactory then you don't need to. We can paint straight onto the ceiling. If there are hairline cracks or slight blemishes these can be attended to and then covered with a good lining paper before painting. Or we can skim the ceiling, let the new plaster dry, and then paint it. If there's a textured paper already on the ceiling we would suggest it is there for a reason - leave it in place, and paint it! If you'd like paper on your ceiling for aesthetic reasons, Jobsmiths can do this for you.

Can Jobsmiths change the light fittings and the electric sockets?
Yes! If there's a change of position, Jobsmiths can channel out for the new wiring, and make good afterwards too.

My radiator is rusty, do I need to replace it?
If it just the top, or spots of rust, then we can clean it up and paint it. If the rusting is near the base, or if the radiators is leaking because of the rust, it may need to be replaced. Jobsmiths can do this for you.

Why isn't my bathroom fan working?
It could be dirty or blocked - or broken. Jobsmiths can fix it or replace it for you.

Can you lay laminate flooring/Parquet tiles/engineered wood floor/new floor boards?
Yes. We can lay vinyl flooring and vinyl tiles, and lino, and ceramic tiles too. If you decide on carpet, we have a local contact to recommend.

There's a drip coming from my loo/toilet/lavatory/bathroom tap/kitchen tap/bathtap. Can it be fixed?
If it's a washer that's causing the problem, we can replace that. If it's a major leak, we can replace the WC, or fit new taps.

The double glazing fitters have left gaps and cracks to fill around my new double glazed windows.
We can repair the cracks and fill the gaps, then paint or paper to co-ordinate with the rest of the room. We can fit windowcills for your plants and replace the curtains rails to rehang your curtains, Or we could hang blinds instead.

I've bought some shelves/ flatpack cupboards. Can Jobsmiths build them?
Yes! We can also customise shelving and storage to fit in the spaces you want them in!

Do Jobsmiths install kitchens / bathrooms?
Not only do we install, we design and source for you as well if you wish. We'll fit new units, and fit worktops, plumb in your dishwasher and washing machine, install your sink and fit your cooker using qualified engineers. We'll fit the splashback. We'll fit your new bathroom suite, tile the walls. And we'll paint and decorate the walls and ceiling. Or if you don't want to have everything new we'll replace unit doors, replace the taps to your sink, handbasin or bath, or re-tile.
